Dry Skin Brushing Tips

Stimulate Whole Lymphatic System

Dry skin brushing tips using a natural bristle brush to help the lymphatic system get rid of cellular waste in interstitial fluid, leading to cellulite, will leave skin glowing with health.

Every body produces toxins that must be removed from the body.

This is one of the jobs of the lymphatic system.

The primary functions are to protect the body from disease, waste and toxin removal.

And lastly to maintain the correct fluid balance before fluid retention becomes a problem.

Many skin conditions can be improved when the lymph system is helped to remove and eliminate waste products from the body.

What do you need for skin brushing?

Natural Bristle Brushes For Dry Skin Brushing All you need is a natural bristle brush and daily dedication to prevent skin from growing over the follicle opening

Skin brushing will also prevent ingrown hair from developing.

Use skin brushing in conjunction with some of the inexpensive home remedies for ingrown hair available at home.

The whole procedure should take only 3-5 minutes. It is best to brush the skin just before taking a shower or bath.

Especially men who do body and leg shaving will benefit a lot from skin brushing, because shaving is the number one cause of ingrown hair.

Either morning or evening. Dead skin flakes will be loosened and brushed off. The skin should glow pink, but musn't become red or irritated.

Dry skin brushing benefits

Dry Skin Brushing Stimulate Tissue Fluid Exchange
  • Microcirculation in the capillaries will be greatly improved, because brushing will stimulate activity in the tiny blood vessels underneath the skin.
  • Fluid exchanges between subcutaneous cells and intersitial fluid is improved. The process of cell nourishment and cell renewal will be stepped up.
  • Waste removal from spaces between cells is speeded up, alleviating the congestion of cellular wastes that stay trapped in the subcutaneous layer. Inflamed ingrown hair will heal faster. Cellulite will improve.
  • Lymphatic flow is normally slow, because lymph flow is against gravity (upwards). By brushing the skin the process can be improved, because it is given a boost by encouraging the flow of waste towards the lymph nodes.
  • Water retention leads to skin puffiness and bloating. Dry skin brushing helps flush excess water from the tissues without the use of diuretic medicine.
  • Healing and repair of tissue is hastened, because healthy and firm tissue depends upon efficient cell renewal and repair.
  • Muscle tone will be enhanced because it depends upon healthy muscles. The muscles will relax and waste and impurities will be flushed out.
  • Connective tissues are the fibres that support the skin It is called collagen and elastin. It will become more supple and malleable after brushing, accelerating skin renewal and minimizing premature skin ageing.
  • Skin pores are opened and the skin can breathe more freely, because it isn't clogged and sluggish anymore. When skin grows over the pore, like with ingrown hair, inflammation quickly sets in and can lead to an infected ingrown hair.
  • Skin texture and quality is improved by the brushing effect that stimulates the glands to produce hormones and skin oils.
  • Immune system is improved because the lymphatic system is an integral part of it. Healthy lymph drainage naturally leads to a higher level of overall immunity,

Dry skin brushing tips

  • Use long, firm and vigorous, but not hard, strokes. The skin and natural bristle brush must both be dry. Avoid any unhealthy, damaged or broken skin.
  • Each area should be given 3-5 clockwise or anti-clockwise brush strokes and then 3-5 long brush strokes towards the heart.
  • Wash Dry Skin Brushing Brushes Often

  • Just like your toothbrush and hair brush you don't share you skin brush with anybody else.
  • Wash the brush every few weeks with soft soap, rinse very well under clean running water and let it dry naturally.
  • For better results on areas with ingrown hair or cellulite add 3-5 sideways brush strokes before ending with the long strokes.
  • Standing on a towel in a comfortable position in the bathroom or bedroom. Or get into the bath or shower.
  • Lift the leg and place the foot on the side of the bath or on top of the toilet or bed.
  • Start with a soft natural bristle brush and progress towards a firmer brush as the skin becomes accustomed to the dry skin brushing.

Dry skin brushing sequence

  2. Feet first - Brush the sole of the foot from the toes to the heel. Brush the top of the foot from the toes to the ankle.
  3. Dry Skin Brushing For Cellulite Elimination

  5. Legs - Proceed to the calves, knees and thighs. Then the hips and buttocks.
  6. Direction - The direction of the brushing should always be from the extremities towards the lymph-node sites in the groin, abdomen and armpits.
  7. Heart - The final destination of skin brushing is the heart area.
  8. Limb for limb - Finish brushing one limb before moving to the next one.

  12. Abdomen - End every brushing session with very gentle circular motions in the abdominal and groin area.
  13. Moisturize - Finish with an invigorating bath or shower. Remember to moisturise with a good skin lotion.

Where are the lymph nodes?

Dry Skin Brushing Stimulates Lymph Nodes Lymph nodes are both positioned superficially as well as deep inside the body.

They are all around the body in small groups near major arteries. Can be felt as round, oval or bean shaped in groin, armpits and neck.

When a cancerous growth is removed, the neaterst lymph nodes are also removed to minimize spreading of the cancerous cells.

Lymph nodes' main functions are to

(1) filter - the lymph is filtered to prevent bacteria and other foreign bodies from entering the blood stream,

(2) defend - the production of white corpuscles (white blood cells) as defence mechanism against bacteria, and

(3) destroy - filtering and destruction of bacteria inside the lymph nodes that may be present in the lymph. This can lead to the nodes becoming red, swollen and painful.

The largest organ of elimination - the skin

The skin is the body's largest organ of elimination of waste and is very effective. The skin is so effective that it can be called the "third kidney". An estimated 2 million pores work around the clock to detoxify the body of accumulated impurities.

The vast network of capillaries can be found subcutaneously where it is connected to the larger veins. The highest concentration of lymphatic vessels also lie in this tissue layer. Dry skin brushing actually stimulate both the capillaries and lymphatic vessels to work even harder.

The skin will become glowing and will come alive with the polished glow of youthful vitality. Skin brushing will stimulate microcirculation, speed up lymph drainage, and smooth the skin out. You will look glowing and feel rejuvenated in the process.

If you use any type of body hair removal method, there is a good chance that you will get ingrown hair at some stage. It is simply amazing how much dry skin brushing helps to prevent and cure it.
