One of my waxing clients (I'll call him Eric) gratiously allowed me to take photographs of his brazilian waxing treatment.Be considerate and take a bath or shower just before your genital hair removal appoinment. You want to be ultra clean in the anus area especially.
Don't apply any body lotion after your shower. But on the other hand, very few men do, so it is no problem. Bottom line is, the skin must be free from any oils.Wear loose fitting (or no) underwear and trousers that won't irritate the newly waxed skin.
Boxer shorts is a good underwear choice for a couple of days.
Preferably go without any underwear for a day or two. I know you will simply love it.
Inform yourself about what to expect during the hot wax hair removal treatment. That will help you to relax your muscles, which will ensure the best waxing results.

Upon arrival at the salon, you might be given a client information form to fill in. Don't panic, it's for their own records. Nothing personal, just the usual name and address stuff. Your cosmetologist will collect you from the reception area.
You will be taken to a well lit treatment/waxing room. You will be asked to get undressed. No, you won't keep your underwear on. No problem. All men adore it to run around naked.
You must climb onto the treatment bed and sit-lie on your back. Some salons prefer to cover the treatment bed with paper, while others prefer a plastic sheet. Both of these feel strange under the naked buttocks.
Then comes the time for the consultation. The waxing technician will ask what your preference is and how much hair she must take off from where. Forget about the fancy names, just describe what you want. If the hair is too long she will trim it shorter with a scissor or clipper. Now is the right time to discuss any pubic hair designs (heart, diamond, etc) you have in mind.
The whole area that will be waxed must be cleaned to get rid of any sweat, oil and potentially dangerous bacteria that can lead to nasty skin infections.
A very light dusting of talcum powder, baby powder or cornstarch will be applied to the whole pubic area. This is to absorb any moisture or oil that might still be on the skin. It is also to lift the hair from the skin. This is also a way for the technician to see at a glance where she still has to wax.

After the wax all stray hair, that didn't come out during the waxing, might be removed with a tweezer. You might be given a hand held mirror to check if everything is as you want it. If not, tell her so it can be corrected.
When you are satisfied, the waxed area will be cleaned of wax residue with something oily. The skin will also be treated with some or other soothing lotion to lessen irritation and swelling.
The cosmetologist will explain the after waxing care tips to you. It would be wise to follow it, or you will suffer with ingrown hair afterwards.
Start to gently exfoliate after two days with any of several methods available to you. Consider reading about dry skin brushing and also what causes ingrown hair.

The cosmetologist might start at the navel and work downwards towards the bottom.The pictures on this page clearly demonstrate this technique.
Another method is to start at the bottom and work your way upwards towards the navel.

There really is no big difference between these two male brazilian waxing techniques. The waxing technician will decide which method she'll use.
I have shortly explained the steps that salons should be taking during a male brazilian waxing appointment. Do not attempt a DIY waxing treatment at home after reading just this page.
