Sugaring Is The 100% Natural And Ancient Precursor To Modern Day Waxing...

The sugaring technique goes back about 6,000 years to ancient Egypt. Modern waxing share the technique, but use harmful chemical substances that quite often can irritate the skin.

Write your unique story about how you prepared this or other recipes and then used it at home. Remember to take some photos.

It should actually not be called waxing, because no wax is used.

The same technique is used for both, so I understand why people call it sugar wax, or something like that.

It is nearly like saying judo and karate are the same sport, just because they are both martial arts.

History Of Ancient Body Pasting

This 100% natural method contains no chemicals, resins or other harsh ingredients like waxing. It is prepared with only natural ingredients. This hair removal method is mentioned in the ancient Egyptian writings, called Hieroglyphics.

Sugaring Hair Removal Its Arabic name "halawa" can be translated as "sweet." It tastes sweet-and-sour. The syrup is cooked to the consistency of soft toffee (softball stage at 238 Fahrenheit or 114,5 Celcius at sea level) and left to cool down. When cool, it forms a plyable ball, known as "kurat al milh" or camel balls.

According to folklore (history) this method was reputedly born out of a Middle Eastern bridal ritual. The night before a wedding the bridal party removed all body hair from the bride's body, leaving only her eyebrows and scalp hair.

Thereafter the bride maintained her hairless body throughout her marriage as a symbol of cleanliness and respect for her husband. The high sugar content inhibited bacterial growth in the Middle East's extremely hot, dry, sandy climate.

Even today it is still widely used by Arabian, Egyptian, Mediterranean Christian, Jewish, and Muslim women. A hairless body is easier to keep clean and cool in a hot climate. Both men and women from the Middle East regularly perform body hair removal.

The technique has been handed down from generation to generation of Middle-Eastern women. The original body paste method is considered the oldest and still the best method for male hair removal. Male body hair is thicker and more wiry than female body hair.

It is often compared to waxing, because both are sticky, spread onto the hair and then pulled off. But that is where the comparison ends. In many ways sugar is the exact opposite of wax! Both can be used hot or just warm. The paste is used at room temperature.
